Well, once upon a time there were three wise hockey players (ok, its a story so they were wise ok?) who decided to plan a Roadtrip....but in Chicago....for the story we will call them Poppa, Junior and Bubba.

Poppa, looked after his children in a kind manner, and arranged for them to fly to Chicago from Manchester in First Class, and to stay at the Drake Hotel.....where we start our little story...

First night in, a little bit tired, we decided to head to the Weber Grill for good old Chicago BarBQ and god was it amazing....then on to see a little game of hockey, it was the Blue Jackets v Blackhawks, and what a great game with the tickets being in block 1 centre ice. Blue Jackets had some incredible talent on their roster and came into the game on the back of a six game winning streak....Micheal Peca, Rick Nash, Sergei Fedorov, Adam Foote and Nikolai Zherdev.

Blackhawks won the game 5-2 with an outstanding performance of what has to be one of the fastest lines in the NHL, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Tuomu Ruutu.  But the goals came from the defencemen on three occasions....note to Bulldogs...you miss 100% of the shots you do not take....

We were introduced to a new form of TV break entertainment.....Poppa and his boys decided they liked the distraction and Poppa made a few calls to the Blackhawks Back Office team to see if 'miracles on ice' really happened.....

The next night was a little bit of cultural diversity, Coach Hanson wanted to see the Bulls play the Pistons, so off we trotted back to the United Center again...Bulls stuffed the Pistons, but Junior and Poppa were bored silly.

On Friday night it was off back to the United Centre to see the Blackhawks play the St Louis Blues,  St Louis had some legends of their own on the ice in the shape off Keith Tkachuk and Paul Kariya.  The Blues scored first but the Blackhawks ended up winners on a scoreline of 4-2.

On the Saturday night it was a night off from hockey, and the boys enjoyed the culinary cultural experience......

Back to the hard stuff on Sunday of the Red Wings and the most anticipated game of the trip.  Detroit came into town.  The Detroit roster read like a who's who in hockey...Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Chelios, Draper, Rafalski, Samuellson, Zetterburg, Kronwall, Holmstrom and not forgetting the legend which is Dominik Hasek.

Well the game kicked off at a crazy pace...with the Blackhawks taking the first 2 to zip..Kane was incredible and the pace was frenetic.  The second was even better, Detroit pulling one back through Jiri Hudler, which triggered off a proper brawl between Patrick Sharp and Tomas Kopecky. Seconds later Rafalksi took a minor penalty and This created the opportunity for the legend in the making which is Toews to score when he nailed an incredible slapshot on the PP to restore the two goal advantage.

The third was an incredibly tight game of hockey, with Detroit having most of the puck and making the Blackhawks stand up for everything that came towards them.  Lidstrom closed the gap with a great slapshot goal but the difference between the two teams on the night was Nikolai Khabibulin who was inspirational.

Monday came along and Poppa had to go down to Panama and the two boys of Bubba and Junior returned home safely snuggling up holding hands together on the long night flight home.....

I am sure the boys will want to add their bits to the story...Bulldogs till we die!

Poppa.   Laughing

Applications for next years road trips are being taken now...See Jonboy and Coaches Hanson and Brown for an interview...

And miracles did come true, did we tell you went for beers with this crew and the Blackhawks back office team.......?
