To say we got off to a slow start is an understatement!
Flintshire started the game the stronger team and were a goal up after just 2 mins 32 secs. They continued to pile on the pressure until 6.32 when Alfie Glenn fired home a shot with an assist from Charlie Hutchinson. 1 - 1 end of first.
The second period started in the same way as the first with an early goal for Flintshire after just 1 min 13 seconds. Again, Alfie Glenn cancelled it out with a goal on 20.54 assisted by Kieran Brown, howerver Flintshire continued to pile on the pressure and score two more goals to make it 4 - 2 at the end of the second period.
The third period again started with an early goal for Flintshire just 32 secs in! This gave the home team a three goal advantage and looked like the game was over. However, it was in fact the impetus the Bulldogs needed as they started to put Flintshire on the back foot. On 33.07 they were rewarded for their efforts when Charlie Hutchinson was the quickest to react to a saved Kieran Brown shot to score his firts goal for the club. Just over a minute later on 34.20 Brown scored a solo effort and then scored again at 36.18 from an Alfie Glenn pass. With the game now tied, Brown again went on a solo run and fired home the game winner at 36.47. (4 goals in 3 mins 40 secs, not bad going guys!)
Both teams played some great hockey and although all the stats before the game suggested that Flintshire would rely on their league top scoring Slovak, they were in fact a well organised and disciplined unit.
Well done boys, this sets us up nicely for Sheffield!
