The U12s went to Flintshire looking to extend their unbeaten record but knew this would be their toughest test so far!
The Bulldogs were slow to start and found themselves a goal down after just 3 minutes 12 seconds when Liam Evans opened the scoring for the home side. Bradford hit back just over a minute later when at 4:37, Kieran Brown put the puck in the back of the net from a fantastic long pass from Lewis Baldwin (awarded to GH Thornton on game sheet). Bradford then took the lead at 6:25 with an identical goal, Brown again scoring from a long pass from Lewis Baldwin. Bradford then scored their 3rd goal at 12:44 when Connor Ritchie converted a pass from Kieran Brown. At 13:58, Callum Wilson pulled a goal back for Flintshire and the period ended, Flintshire 2, Bradford 3.
The second period got off to slow start for the Bulldogs, with Flintshire missing some great oportunities to level the game. However Bradford were the first to score when at 22:29, Kieran Brown finished a solo run, and then from the resulting face off, when straight through to get Bradford's 5th at 22:32. Flintshire again came back and scored their 3rd goal at 25:03 through Sam Smith and then applied huge pressure on the Bradford net in the last minutes of the period, forcing the Bradford net minder Corey Stones to make some incredable saves. 5 - 3 to Bradford at the end of the 2nd period.
Flintshire started the 3rd period as they had finished the 2nd, and were eventually rewarded for their hard work when at 32:21, Lewis Openshaw scored to close the deficit to just one goal. This however seemed to wake the Bulldogs who for the first time, now looked to take control of the game. At 35:45, Lewis Baldwin scored Bradfords 6th and then at 40:06, Kieran Brown scored the 7th. Brown then got his double hat trick goal at 42:22, with an assist from Connor Ritchie, and then got Bradfords 9th at 42:31. Ritchie then got his 2nd of the evening at 42:42 with an assist from Brown, who then finished the scoring at 44:49 to give Bradford the victory 11 - 4.
Both teams played some great hockey at times but also looked weak defending their zones!!! The game was much closer than the scoreline suggests and had the Flintshire team had a full bench, maybe their legs may not have tired towards the end and the outcome could have been much different. Congratulations to man of the match Corey Stones who faced 47 shots, and most certainly kept Bradford in the game in the 2nd period and early in the 3rd!
Kieran Brown 8 + 2
Connor Ritchie 2 + 1
Lewis Baldwin 1 + 1
GH Thornton 0 + 1
M.O.M Corey Stones
