Bradford Bulldogs started way back in 1976 when a group of skaters
from Bradford Ice Rink got together and formed the Bradford Bulldogs
Ice Hockey Team.
In the early days we played in English League Division 1, against teams
such as Liverpool Leopards, Blackpool Seagulls, Sheffield Sabres and
Crowtree Chiefs. this was a tough league with some tough guys playing names like Bernie Snagg, Barry Coy and Bob Chesterman come to mind. [take a look at Bradens photos and you will see what i mean].
Bench brawls were common and more often than not the crowd would get
involved, Liverpool, Solihull and of course Bradford are the ones i
remember. Our player/coach at this time was Czech born Karel Stanek,
Karel played at national level , he later went on to play for Atrincham Aces in the intercity league.
Well thats enough for now folks, the road trips etc are another story.
