Admission Price Increase

Came to see the game last night but had to turn away completely stunned once I got there. My son & I could watch for £2.00 last season but now I am expected to pay £7.00, a 350% increase!!!! All this to watch a game at a rink with leaking sinks in the toilet and a hand dryer that hasn't worked for months. I understand the need to increase prices and try to make some additional cash but any increase has to be a bit more reasonable surely? Would be interested to hear other peoples views.

This year we have seen a big increase in what we pay our officals, the senior Bulldogs now have to pay £250 per game, the junior Bulldogs have also seen a big increase in their game charges. In the past we have tried not to charge but last season we brought in a charge of £2.00 per adult. We also have on sale programmes and raffles. However unlike junior games where all family members will come along to watch their son/daughter/brother/sister, we have never been able to attract the numbers to enable us to make on the sale of programmes and raffles. To try and cover this large increase, the decision was made that we would do what every other senior league club do and that is charge an entrance fee. We were hoping to have concession cards given out to all junior members by our first game, but unfortunatley this did not happen and I took the decision to charge a standard fee across the board. Despite a few complaints, most people paid and were quite happy to pay the cost. Last season we gave out concession tickets to the oppistion to enable each player one guest, but this was never returned to our players, so once again like the rest of the league we have stopped concession tickets to the opposition. Our supporters have been asked to pay up to 7.00 per person last season with no notice of any charge until we arrived at the rink. Considering what you are charged to see rugby, football etc £5.00 is not over the odds.

We should have the concession cards ready for our next home game, and details of costing will be given out along with the cards. I make no apologies for this increase in admission, and would remind everyone that the seniors are pay to play just like the juniors but our costs are higher than juniors. If people want to form a fund raising committee to help cover these game costs, both for the seniors and the juniors then please get involved instead of complaining. Remember the subscription that ALL the club members pay covers the cost of the rink the officals replacement pucks, the kit and everything else that is needed to enable YOUR child to play. Most of our senior team are also your childs coaches and they pay to play just like everyone else, they do not get anything to cover their costs for travelling to your childs games, they do it because they are part of a team - Bradford Ice Hockey Club. Believe me when I say that if we could get away with not charging or even if we could afford a smaller charge than we would do, but to do this people need to get invloved in raising money to cover these costs.

For those of you that did complain abusivly,(and I cannot belief the way some people actually spoke to her) I have apologised to Katie in the box office for your attitude towards her and her staff.

I would also remind you that there are some clubs in our league where not only do you pay to play on a monthly subscription to the club, the rink also charges admission fee to get in in the first place.

I hope this goes part way to explaining the decision made, and if anyone wants to get invloved in fund raising please speak to your team manager or a committee member.

Yvonne, I think you have put it better than the chancellor could have. £5-00 is very little compared with what other clubs playing at that level charge to try and cover costs.
Bradford is one of the least expensive and in my opinion most accessible clubs I have come across. We should be proud to have a senior team that is also committed to training, nurturing and setting a good example to our children. If you look at the commitment from our older players at Hockey schools, games and training etc and realise that they are doing a job they have had to be trained to do. They take on a great responsibility with your children and without exception deliver the goods without financial reward.
I think they deserve a slap on the back and I wouldn't begrudge paying £10-00 to watch them if it goes towards covering some of the costs and entertains me into the bargain.

Like the advert says "Admission to the Bulldogs Game £5-00, watching Bobby H. put on his backside .....Priceless!"

I understand that there was some confusion on Sunday and I hope we have not put anyone off coming back. I think Yvonne has explained the need to charge for admission so I won't say any more about that.

The concesion cards should be ready and distributed for the next home game (Sept 23rd) and these will allow junior players free admission when accompanied by a perent paying £2.50. I'm sure no one would have a problem with paying that.

I also understand that the senior team now more than ever have a duty to improve the standard of their game and need to start winning. This cannot be done over night but i can assure everyone that the small, and still relatively inexperienced squad we have are working hard in training to turn things around.

On a final note, Bobby H is unfortunately not playing in the ENIHL this season but i would have gladly dumped him on his arse again.
