The Bulldogs went into Sunday night looking for a much improved performance against a strong powerful Whitley side. Both sides were short of players with Bradford iceing 11 players and Whitley iceing only 13.
The first period started at a good fast open pace with both sides having chances. The Bulldogs were unlucky to fall behind at 05.33 when Karl Culley scored for Whitley.But only 24 seconds later the bulldogs got level through Andy Brown who tucked in the puck from a Josh Stockton pass. The sides went in level 1-1 at the first break.
The second started much like the frist with end to end hockey. But the Bulldogs hearts were broken when Whitley regained the lead at 25.19 when David Barrett somehow scored via the underside of the crossbar. As the Bulldogs pressed forward Dean Boothroyd got called for high-sticks and on the powerplay Dale Howey scored at 35.27. The Bulldogs went in 3-1 down at the end of the second.
The thrid started with Whitley coming out strong but to the Bulldogs credit they kept the presure on and had chances to score but were guitly of wasting them. At 45.47 Karl Culley scored his second to make it 4-1.Two further goals one on the powerplay by Mark Good at 54.32 and a evenhanded strike by Andrew Tindale at 58.28. made the final score 6-1. The scoreline did'nt really tell the whole story has this was the best Bulldogs performance of the season. It shows that they are capeble of living with the top teams in this leauge. Now we face two tough but winable road games as they start to build for next season.
