MANCHESTER V BRADFORD U16 ( report now added)

MANCHESTER 1 BRADFORD 5 Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

SORRY FOR DELAY WITH MATCH REPORT.
Christmas and all that, had to polish my sled and Rudolf's nose.

Having suffered our worst defeat of the season by Manchester we crossed the pennines into Lancashire with more than just the air having a slight nip!
However, the team were back to strength and the lads and lasses were more than up for it. Despite a late start with no initial ice cut Bradford 1st line were chomping at the bit when the puck was dropped. 7 seconds later the puck was in the back of the Manchester net courtesy of Alex Laville (unable to play last week due to party commitments)and assisted by Leigh Marrow (unable to play last week due to pretend hockey commitments).
The Bradford crowd went wild and the Manchester Massif were silenced. This is how the score stood at the end of the first period.

2 mins into the second period, Mr Flannigan, unbeknown to him, made an assist pass to ballet impresario Chris Armo who proceeded to Waltz his way through the whole Manchester line and beat the goalie with a superb shot, excellent solo goal only outshone by the victory curtsy afterwards. (What is it about roller hockey players?)
The Muff machine occasionally slipped into overdrive and worried the heck out the Manchester defence, however he was unable to turn it into a goal.
Although the whole team had been warned about taking silly penalties, Butler was called for 2 mins for roughing at 22:32. This gave Manchester the chance they needed and Shannon Lingwood the Captain slotted a goal home for Manchester to bring the score to 2-1 to Bradford. This was followed 4 mins later by another solo goal from Chris the Chav Armo bring the score to a respectable 3-1 to Bradford.
The third Period started and Bradford switched into Class mode, all roller hockey was forgotten and the real skills came to the front. Most of the play was in the Manchester half and our players took it in turns to set themselves up and have a shot. Credit to their Goalie, however the odd breakaway did occur and on one of these occasions a terrific stick side shot was fired off and seemed to be a certain goal for Manchester, but as usual everybody underestimated the skill of Matt the Mutt as he dropped his stick and plucked the puck from the air. Afterwards Matt told me it was a better save than most NHL goalies could make. Who am I to argue with an over confident hormone fired Meathead who's also bigger than me?
This period saw some excellent defensive work from Bradford's MOM Jonathon Harding, shame the same can't be said for his ability with the jokes!
The wheels fell off for Manchester and their only scorer proceeded to collect himself 59mins of penalties, courtesy of those nice referees.
Less than 8 mins into the third period saw assists from Leigh and Al to put Timbo Johnson on the score sheet.
With less than a min to go Laville scored his second of the game assisted by Chav Armo and Mr Marrow.
Final score 5-1 to Bradford.

Well done lads and lass.
Well done coach Fletch.
