U18 BRADFORD V SUTTON

BRADFORD 11 SUTTON 2

The game started and a full Sutton squad bolstered by many new experienced players looked to be defending well, checking hard and fast on the break. It took over 10 minutes for Bradford to open the scoring with a Chav boy Armitage unassisted effort.
Less than 2 minutes later and Sutton had equalised.
It took a further 18 seconds when a pass from Ashington was converted by new boy Tomlinson and the score was 2-1 Bradford.
The baying crowd had to wait a further electric 5 minutes till Mr Laville converted a Flanagan pass to put Bradford 3-1 up. That was how the first period ended.

The second period carried on in much the same vein as the first, hard solid hitting and a lot of puck movement on the ice. Bradford seemed to step up a gear in the second. 3 and 1/2 minutes in and Bradford were again on the power play. Mr Flannagan converted an Ashington pass and put Bradford ahead 4-1. This was then added to by an Ashington goal from a Tomlinson assist. Then Chris Armitage assisted by Ashington managed to net another. 6-1 to Bradford.
However Sutton replied with another goal, the score was now 6-2.
A beautiful behind the net pass by Armo was passed back round the front by Laville and converted by Ashington 7-2. The dying seconds of the second period saw a pass laid along the blue line by Butler to be hammered in by Flannagan. 8-2 to Bradford.

The third period saw Bradford’s Parker replaced by Osmond in the net. Sutton were now becoming a tad disappointed and funnelling their frustration into aggression. However Bradford kept their cool and refused to retaliate, however they gave as good if not better than they received. Even Mr “Rocket Gloves” Nelson was seen to walk away and let Sutton take the penalty. Bradford increased their lead to 9-2 when a pass from Tomlinson was converted by Armitage.
Ashington added two more solo goals before the end of the period, and despite Ed Wardle being ”beefed up” by Suttons finest and Sutton picking up a few 10 mins misconducts the rest of the game played out with Sutton only getting two shots on goal in the last period.
A tough good win for Bradford 11-2 and three games undefeated.
